Day 3 DM Freestyle 2026:

Prize Giving, Duck-F*ck Prevention and a Final Freesail

After two action-packed days on the water, all single and double eliminations had already been completed across A-fleet, B-fleet and Juniors. Across the full three days, the riders spent more than 10 hours on the water, making the most of a windy Spring DM with competition, supersession, freesailing and progression sessions.

With Løgstør as the event base, the fleet had been able to move to the best conditions within reach — and by Day 3, the main competition results were locked in. That meant it was time to slow things down, celebrate the riders and enjoy the community side of the event.

Prize giving in Løgstør

In Løgstør’s beautiful natural surroundings, the prize giving was held on the promenade, where curious locals also stopped by to watch and follow the atmosphere around the event.

Prizes from the event sponsors were handed out, including sunscreen from Island Tribe Europe, surf prizes from Lynæs Surfcenter and plenty of sweets from Nordthy Denmark. A huge thanks also goes out to all event partners, volunteers and the media team for helping make the Spring Danish Championships possible.

Alongside the official results, a special award was given for the most stoked person of the event — celebrating the rider with the best attitude, energy and overall positive vibe. That award went to Emil Skov Nielsen, who brought great spirit both on and off the water throughout the event.

Duck-F*ck Prevention at Ahl

With the official part of the event completed, the focus shifted from competition to progression. There was still wind further south, and since many riders were already heading in that direction, the call was made for a shared freesail session at Ahl on Djursland.

Once everyone arrived, Mathias Vingaard ran a land-based Duck-F*ck Prevention training session. Ducking the sail is one of the key skills for advanced freestyle, and many riders were keen to either learn it from scratch or clean up their technique.

After the training, everyone hit the water to try it for real. Ahl was not an easy classroom. With strong southwesterly wind, small side-onshore waves and fast-moving water, the spot made every duck attempt a proper challenge. Still, the riders went for it, throwing themselves into sail ducks, crashes and progression attempts throughout the session.

There were plenty of good tries, plenty of classic duck-f*ck moments, and most importantly, a lot for everyone to take home and train before the next event in the autumn.

A strong finish to the Spring DM

As the wind slowly backed off, the final session came to an end and the riders could head home after three packed days of Danish freestyle.

The 2026 Spring Danish Championships showed a very positive direction for freestyle in Denmark. The number of riders is growing organically, the atmosphere around the event is getting stronger, and the level on the water continues to rise across all fleets. From B-fleet progression and strong Junior performances to high-level A-fleet action, the event showed that Danish freestyle is building momentum in the right way.

Just as important as the riding itself was the community around it. Riders, judges, volunteers, locals and sponsors all helped create an event with great energy, good vibes and a strong feeling of shared progression.

A huge thanks to all riders, judges, volunteers, locals and event partners for making it happen.
